IN THE SPOTLIGHT

CCTA and Caltrans Unveil I-680 Northbound Express Lane Project to Alleviate Traffic

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) and Caltrans have announced a new initiative aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving travel efficiency on I-680. The I-680 Northbound Express Lane Completion Project focuses on bridging existing express lane gaps and optimizing highway operations.

The project includes constructing a new northbound express lane from Livorna Road to SR-242. Additionally, the current HOV lane from SR-242 to north of Arthur Road will be converted into an express lane. These changes are designed to streamline traffic flow and make better use of existing road infrastructure.

Residents and commuters are encouraged to review the four proposed build alternatives and share their feedback. More information about the project and a portal for submitting comments are available on the project website. (link)
