Walnut Creek Offers $5,000 Grants for Vibrant Murals

Walnut Creek business and building owners now have the opportunity to enhance their spaces with vibrant murals through the Bedford Gallery's Mural Matching Grant. The program offers matching funds up to $5,000 for approved mural projects, aiming to beautify the streetscape and diversify the community's public art.

To apply, visit the Bedford Gallery's website for detailed guidelines and the application process. Interested parties must contact the Public Art Manager, Marija Nelson Bleier, at (925) 295-1472 or via email at [email protected] to schedule a mural review appointment. The Walnut Creek Arts Commission must approve all murals, whether on city property or visible to the public, ensuring they meet community standards and do not contain signage.

Applicants need to submit a comprehensive proposal, including design descriptions, wall preparation plans, maintenance responsibilities, and community support evidence. Additionally, they must provide a digital presentation with scale drawings, proposed mural labels, site photographs, and a project timeline. The murals should have a minimum lifespan of five years, during which artists and property owners are responsible for maintenance and repairs.

For further details on the mural design and application guidelines, business and building owners can visit the Bedford Gallery's website.
