2024 AAUW-OML STEM Conference: Inspiring Middle School Girls in Science and Technology

The 2024 AAUW-OML STEM Conference for Middle School Girls, hosted by AAUW-Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette, is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024, in Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. This event, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., aims to inspire girls in STEM through hands-on workshops led by professionals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Dr. Sonya Schuh, a biologist and STEMinist focusing on chemical impacts on health, will keynote.

Attendees can choose from 14 workshops, attending three based on their preferences and demand. The $50 cost covers lunch, snacks, drinks, a t-shirt, and is non-refundable. Scholarships are offered for accessibility.

A concurrent Parent Program on raising confident teens runs from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Covid-19 vaccine proof is not required, and masks are optional. Registration requires a completed form and fee, with a separate form for each student. SIGN UP HERE

Unleash Your Inner Artist: Hops & Watercolor Night at Calicraft Brewing Co.

Hops Paint Night at Calicraft Brewing Company offers a unique blend of art and craft beer. Scheduled for Wednesday, February 7, from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM PST, participants can enjoy creating a realistic watercolor painting of beer hops. The workshop, led by Landa Ruen, is designed for all skill levels, providing painting hacks to ensure everyone leaves with a beautiful piece of artwork.

For $60, attendees will receive a one-hour watercolor painting session, all necessary supplies, and their first pint of beer (or another beverage).
