Bay Area Sees Hope as PG&E Cuts Down Outage Numbers, Weather Clears Up

PG&E crews have been tirelessly working around the clock in the Bay Area and across the state, striving to restore power after a severe weekend storm left tens of thousands of residents without electricity. The National Weather Service has forecasted favorable weather conditions to aid in these efforts, with only isolated showers expected, offering a respite from the recent severe weather. This comes after the area was battered by high winds reaching over 80 mph, causing widespread power outages. As of Tuesday morning, approximately 64,700 customers were still without power, a significant decrease from the peak of over a million people affected on Sunday. The hardest hit areas remain in the North Bay, with ongoing damage assessments to PG&E equipment. Despite the challenging conditions, efforts to restore power have been met with understanding from the community, including local business owners who have been affected by the outages. The weather outlook is optimistic, with calmer conditions expected to prevail, allowing repair crews to make further progress in power restoration efforts.
