Fairytale Splendor: Sleeping Beauty's Wedding Scene Takes the Stage This February

This February, the magical wedding scene from the classic ballet "Sleeping Beauty" will be enchantingly brought to life. Set to the beautiful compositions of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and inspired by the original choreography of Marius Petipa, the third act's celebration is a spectacle of romance and royal grandeur. The performance showcases the Jewel Fairies—Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Sapphire—alongside the Lilac Fairy, as they add sparkle to the festivities. A host of fairytale figures, including Puss in Boots, The White Cat, Princess Florine with the Bluebird, and Little Red Riding Hood, join in the dance, offering their best wishes to the couple. The production features the talents of the entire company and the budding artists from Diablo Ballet School, making it a truly inclusive celebration.

In a touching tribute to the late Mari Cyphers, a cherished friend of the Ballet, Penny Saunders presents "Dr. Magic." Saunders, an acclaimed choreographer, has crafted this ballet in honor of Cyphers' memory, showcasing her innovative and heartfelt approach to dance.

The program also includes a rousing encore of "Confetti," choreographed by Gerald Arpino to the music of Gioachino Rossini. This virtuosic ballet, which premiered in March 2023, features three couples in a lively and festive performance, complete with tambourines, echoing its debut in February 1970.

The entire event, filled with grace, celebration, and tribute, spans approximately an hour and a half, including one intermission.

C) 1,800 acres

The correct answer is 1,800 acres. This significant move allowed the city to acquire undeveloped hillsides, ridge lines, and park sites, demonstrating Walnut Creek's commitment to environmental preservation and outdoor recreational spaces.
