Showcasing Local Talent: Congressional Art Competition Calls for Entries

The 10th Congressional District of California, represented by Congressman DeSaulnier, is once again calling on the creative talents of its high school students for the annual Art Competition and Exhibition. This prestigious event invites students from public, private, and home schools within the district to showcase their artistic abilities in a competition that offers the unique opportunity for the winning artwork to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Additionally, the winner will gain national exposure on the House.gov website, alongside other district winners from across the country.

The exhibition serves not only as a platform for young artists to gain recognition but also as a celebration of the diverse artistic talent within the 10th Congressional District. The closing awards event will publicly honor participants and announce the winner, whose artwork will represent the district in Washington, D.C.

For the 2024 competition, students are required to submit a high-resolution photograph or scan of their artwork, accompanied by a Student Release Form, to [email protected] by April 5, 2023. The artwork, which can be up to 26 inches in size and not exceeding 15 pounds, will be judged electronically by a panel. Accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography. All submissions must be original in design and execution, adhering to U.S. copyright laws to ensure fairness and originality in the competition.
