Final Weekend Alert: Catch the Last Performances of Mystic Pizza Musical!

The stage adaptation of the iconic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture, Mystic Pizza, has been transformed into an enthralling musical that captures the heart and spirit of its source material. With Sandy Rustin penning the book, and the story and characters originally created by Amy Holden Jones, the musical sees its narratives and melodies brought to life with musical arrangements and orchestrations by Carmel Dean. Choreographed by Connor Gallagher and directed by Casey Hushion, this production is a testament to the collaborative spirit of theater. The show's successful run is a result of the partnership between La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment.

Mystic Pizza is set to conclude its captivating run from February 15 to 25, 2024, offering both matinee and evening performances. With only five performances left, this final weekend presents the last opportunity for audiences to experience the show that has been described as β€œunabashedly fun, ecstatically buoyant" and "an amusingly sassy, smile-inducing delight" by critics like BroadwayWorld. This Northern California premiere by Center REP has been hailed as the theatrical event of the season, with tickets selling quickly. Despite the rush, great seats are still available for all remaining shows, which can be booked through LCArts.org/MysticPizza.

Drawing inspiration from the 1988 MGM romantic comedy, the musical nostalgia journey follows three working-class young women as they navigate life's ups and downs, all while working at a small-town pizza restaurant. The show features a hit-filled soundtrack with classics from the 80s and 90s by The Bangles, Cyndi Lauper, Journey, Melissa Etheridge, and more, ensuring that audiences will be singing and dancing in their seats. The production promises a heartwarming experience, running approximately two hours, including one intermission.

As Mystic Pizza's run comes to an end, this weekend marks the final chance to catch this "smile-inducing delight." Don't miss out on this nostalgic musical journey filled with classic tunes and the heartwarming tales of friendship, love, and life in a quaint pizza parlor.
