Congressman DeSaulnier to Lead Town Hall on Refinery Safety in Martinez

In an effort to address community concerns and enhance safety measures, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier has organized an in-person town hall meeting focused on local refinery safety. This gathering, set for Monday, March 25th, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., comes in the wake of recent safety incidents at two Martinez refineries that prompted investigations. The town hall aims to foster a dialogue about the Congressman's ongoing initiatives to safeguard the environment and improve living standards in the Bay Area, reflecting on his past experience as an air regulator. This event will serve as a platform for the Martinez community to voice their concerns directly to Congressman DeSaulnier and engage with experts from Contra Costa Health, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and the Chemical Safety Board on the topic of refinery safety.

The town hall will be hosted in the multipurpose room at John Muir Elementary School. For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be streamed live on Congressman DeSaulnier's Facebook page, ensuring broad accessibility for all interested parties.

The Answer to the Walnut Creek Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇

D) The completion of the I-680 and Highway 24 interchange

The completion of the Interstate 680 and Highway 24 interchange in 1960 was a significant event in Walnut Creek's history, marking a transition from a small town to a bustling city. This project alleviated the daily gridlock on downtown streets, transforming Walnut Creek into a more accessible and attractive place for residents and visitors alike. Prior to this, Main Street and Mt. Diablo Boulevard doubled as both downtown commercial streets and major state highways, leading to significant congestion (Walnut Creek Historical Society -).
