From the City of Walnut Creek:
As part of Walnut Creek's 2023-2031 Housing Element implementation, the Planning Commission is holding a public hearing on June 13, 2024, at 6 p.m. at City Hall to discuss updates to the Zoning Ordinance required by state law. Here’s what’s on the agenda:
- Emergency Shelters for the Unhoused
- Low Barrier Navigation Centers (service-enriched shelters focused on moving people into permanent housing)
- Transitional Housing (assistance for up to 6 months to help individuals move into permanent housing)
- Supportive Housing (linked to services that help residents retain housing, improve health, and maximize their ability to live and work in the community)
This is your chance to hear about the City’s plan for meeting housing needs at all income levels. The Planning Commission will make recommendations to the City Council, who will hold their public hearing on July 23, 2024. Final ordinance adoption is scheduled for August 6, 2024.
